Oh you're in for a treat in Georgia! Listen for some polyphonic singing there. Different songs for different reasons, differences between regions, glorious! I enjoyed your Turkish experience. So heartwarming to hear even with the challenges, that it still was an overall positive part of your trip.

I love watching the Trio Mandili videos for the singing and for the amazing scenery behind them

Wonderful glimpses into your epic adventure ! Turkey seems very beautiful..Jeez though ..a whole country that revolves around tea and a religion that prevents women from entering a teahouse 🤔

To be fair I don’t think it’s probably accurate to say that religion prevents women from entering tea houses, any more than religion was the reason why women weren’t found in the pub in Ireland until very recently, or else were only permitted into the snug for a sherry! It’s just a social norm.

Ah .. I guess it seemed like there was a religious connection when you wrote that the auld lads ' fingered their prayer beads nervously ' at the sight of you near a teashop . Either way , whether it's religion or ' social norms ' still amazing that the women aren't allowed in a space that is built to enjoy the product the country is most built around .
