Great post Mark. You really covered a lot of topics. Erie Canal history is fascinating and impactful to the U S in the mid 1800s. Having cycled the entire way on my bike I drank in your descriptions. Do you remember the bike art on the side of the path after Syracuse? Great messages from school kids. So rich in history and social impacts. Glad you enjoyed it.
BTW, Mark (me) is not a meteorologist though I worked with lots of them! I’m a computer scientist who helped improve weather predictions by using the latest computing technologies like GPUs, AI and better software.
